PKO series will bring heated action

Progressive knockout tournaments are quite the rage in poker right now because they often create more action than other types of tournaments.

In this format of play, half of each player’s buy-in goes to the prize money up for grabs, while the other half is their bounty.

When players earn a knockout, they win half of the opponent’s bounty while adding the remaining half to their total. Of course, as bounties increase, players may have an incentive to adjust their play accordingly.

These tournaments also allow players to earn money without making it “into the money” or to amass larger bounty payouts than won from the prize pool itself.

BetMGM is giving the players what they want

Now that Michigan poker players are back home and the WSOP is officially behind us, BetMGM is focusing on continuing its momentum from a strong summer that included an online series and the BetMGM Poker Championship at ARIA Resort and Casino, Las Vegas.

“As we reach poker’s summer months, it becomes more important than ever to offer players what we know will be popular and, right now, progressive knockout events are more popular than ever,” Luke Staudenmaier, Director of Poker at BetMGM, said.

Staudenmaier added that this is the sixth series in which BetMGM Poker will feature at least one PKO event and the second dedicated to all PKOs. The first of its kind was in February 2022.

BetMGM Summer PKO Fest schedule

The series spans two Sundays, and multiple events will run each night. All tournaments are No-Limit Hold’em except for Saturday, Aug. 20. Those three events will be Pot-Limit Omaha.
