Two slots games designed around the theme of the buffalo ranked among the top online casino games in Michigan for December. Well, bison, but more on that later.

According to gaming research insider Eilers & Krejcik Gaming (EKG), “Blazing Bison Gold Blitz” (designed by Fortune Factory Studios, a division of Digital Gaming Corporation), was the “best performing” slots game among surveyed Michigan online casinos last month. Coming in at No. 3 was “Buffalo,” from gaming company Anaxi.

Each month, EKG gathers data from participating casino operators in several states, including Michigan, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.

EKG publishes aggregated reports as well as state-by-state analysis. Their master list ranks the top 25 slots games.

EKG’s ranking formula a secret

While EKG doesn’t reveal the exact formula it uses to rank the slots titles each month, it’s suspected that customer satisfaction, hours of play, and casino bonuses are factors.

The gaming company with the best record in December was Light & Wonder, which placed six slots games in the top 25 rankings by EKG. Light & Wonder is headquartered in Las Vegas. Three gaming developers, American Gaming Systems, Digital Gaming Corp., and Greentube, each had three slots titles on the list for December 2023.

Buffalo and Bison: What’s the difference?

This may as good a time as any to remind readers that there are no buffalo in the United States.

Those big, furry, fierce-looking, horned creatures you see in national parks in Colorado and elsewhere? Those are bison. Specifically, the American Bison.

But, sometime long ago, back before microwave ovens and the NFL, the folks who saw those animals thought they looked a hack of a lot like the Buffalo in Europe and Africa. None of the bison ever managed to correct the mistake.

By the way, the largest Bison Herd east of the Mississippi River is located in Michigan: in Traverse City. Every spring you can even have yourself a buffalo (bison) burger at an annual picnic in that fair city.

Borgata Casino calls Blazing Bison Gold Blitz title “a fiery, animal-themed slot game.” It features high-contrast colors and dynamic interactive play with pleasing music and graphics. The setup is the 5×4 reel layout and 4,096 ways to win. According to EKG, the title is rated at 96% Return To Player (RTP).

According to PlayUSA, the Buffalo slots game from Anaxi (a division of Aristocrat Gaming) recreates, “the excitement of Buffalo found on casino floors.” If that sounds a little thunderous and dangerous, don’t fret. This is a buffalo you can tame on the mobile phone you carry around in your pocket.

Buffalo is a popular 5-reel slot with 1,024 pay lines. It features a 5×4 layout, and since it debuted in 2023, Buffalo has appeared more than once among the best performing slots titles in Michigan and other states analyzed by EKG.
