It’s easy to put the focus on the big three online casinos in Michigan when it comes to breaking down revenue. But, one online operator’s whose success in 2023 is getting lost in the shuffle is Caesars Casino MI, now known as Caesars Palace Casino MI.
With nearly 30% revenue growth for the year, the Caesars brand has quietly crept into a top-5 position in Michigan’s online casino industry.
Caesars Michigan up over $10 million in 2023
The online casino for Turtle Creek Casino finally seems to be realizing the potential it had with the Caesars branding.
Taking over for the initially launched William Hill Casino in August of 2021, the William Hill/Caesars combination ranks seventh all-time in Michigan online casino revenue. With $127.4 million earned over 31 months of activity, it still sits behind WynnBet ($135.6 million) and Golden Nugget ($171.5 million) for a top-5 spot.
However, in 2023, Caesars is making a strong push to change that narrative. Through seven months of the year, Caesars Casino MI has generated $48.7 million. That’s 28.6% higher than it was at through the first seven months of 2022 ($37.9 million).
Perhaps more important is Caesars is ahead of WynnBet ($34.1 million) and Golden Nugget ($48.4 million) in 2023. That puts Caesars in the fifth spot for the year.
New Caesars app launched in August
The August revenue report will be interesting for Caesars, as they introduced Caesars Palace Casino in Michigan last month.
Caesars Palace is an upgraded version of the Caesars online casino.
The initial Caesars Casino was just an added feature of the Caesars online sportsbook. Caesars Palace Casino MI is its own application that stands on its own.
The Caesars Casino still is up and running within Caesars Sportsbook. But, the Caesars Palace Casino offers a much wider array of gaming options and has a better overall visual presentation.
Caesars Casino was limited to around 250 game options, while Caesars Palace is home to over 500 games.
“It’s a casino-first entry into our digital business,” said Caesars chief executive officer and director Tom Reeg during the company’s Q2 investors call. “And in terms of capabilities bonusing, segmentation, proprietary games, live dealer, it is light years beyond what we’ve been operating under.”
Caesars Palace Casino MI is also advertised as a better way for customers to build their Caesars Rewards accumulated through retail play.
Now that the Palace Casino and Caesars Casino have both been up and running for a big chunk of August. As such, one would expect the revenue numbers for the operator to see another jump.
Should that momentum continue for the final five months of 2023, Caesars can firmly establish itself as a top-5 online casino in Michigan.
