DraftKings Online Casino Education Hub Aims To Keep Players Informed

Written By Paul Costanzo on June 17, 2022

DraftKings is doing its part to make sure its customers are educated while using its online casino.

The DraftKings Online Casino Education Hub gives Michigan online casino players a chance to learn before they play some of the operator’s most popular games. It also provides responsible gaming information and a peek behind the curtain of how the app meets regulations.

“DraftKings offers its customers in the U.S. and Canada extensive safer play education and a robust suite of tools to help them play responsibly.” Chrissy Thurmond, DraftKings Senior Director of Responsible Gaming, said in a statement provided to PlayMichigan. The DraftKings Online Casino Education Hub, embedded across the DraftKings Casino app and websites, is a fantastic way for customers to learn how to play certain online casino games, while also promoting our engaging, DraftKings-created responsible gaming (RG) videos that teach players how to use the RG tools available to them.”

What videos are available at DraftKings Online Casino Education Hub?

There are more than 20 videos available in the Education Hub. Most of those videos are game tutorials, but others touch on responsible gaming or how the casino is regulated.

Here’s a list of available videos:

  • Blackjack
    • Touchdown Blackjack
    • Multihand Blackjack
  • Roulette
    • March Mania Roulette
  • Spanish 21
  • Live Dealer
  • Slots
    • Wheel of Fortune: Triple Extreme Spin
    • 2Tribes
  • Poker
  • Baccarat
  • Craps
    • Advanced Craps
  • Rocket
  • DraftKings Casino Guides
    • Casino Deposit Bonus
    • DraftKings Currencies
  • Play Responsibly
  • Fair & Regulated Play

What can you learn on the DraftKings Online Casino Education Hub?

Most of the videos give online casino beginners an introduction to a specific game. For instance, the craps video spends most of the time explaining the pass line and how to make basic wagers. While the advanced craps video gets into more exotic wagers.

The Hub also provides written explanations under each of its videos, for those who prefer to digest information that way.

Most of those tutorials aren’t giving you tips on how to beat the house, obviously, but there is at least one exception. A blackjack strategy article gets into the weeds for players, and even includes a chart on the best times, mathematically, to hit, stay or double down.

Players who are familiar with casino games can also learn some things. The deposit bonus video, for example, explains how DraftKings playthrough requirements work on deposit bonuses. Not understanding those is a common complaint for even the most veteran online casino player.

DraftKings stepping up responsible gaming efforts

The Online Casino Education Hub is part of DraftKings’ wider effort to promote safe play.

Earlier this week, it announced a collaboration with BetBlocker to raise awareness and access to responsible gaming tools. BetBlocker is a non-profit charity that provides a free software for online gamblers. The software can block thousands of gaming sites, including unregulated sites, for a player across multiple devices.

All legal and regulated casinos in Michigan are required by the Michigan Gaming Control Board to have responsible gaming tools in place. Michigan online casino and sportsbooks apps allow users to set wagering limits, time limits, cooling-off periods and the ability to self-exclude for up to five years.
