The first-ever DraftKings Sports & Social opened its doors in Troy on Thursday.
Located in the Somerset Collection at 2850 Coolidge Highway in Troy, DraftKings Sports & Social held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the occasion.
Included in the ceremony were representatives from DraftKings, Live! Hospitality & Entertainment, Somerset, the Troy city government, as well as former Detroit Piston Grant Long.
The new venue marks another new option for bettors to interact with Michigan sportsbooks.

So, we wanted to really give them something that they could do in person with friends and family, and be social,” said Jeremy Elbaum, Sr. VP of Business and Development at DraftKings. “There’s no better brand than Sports & Social to partner up with.”
Troy selected for first DraftKings Sports & Social
DraftKings Sports & Social’s opening on Thursday isn’t just the first for Michigan, it’s the first for the United States.
To mark the occasion, Troy mayor Ethan Baker was on hand to take part in the ribbon cutting.
“This is exciting, not just for the city of Troy, but the state of Michigan,” Baker said. “We are always excited when Troy, Michigan, is the destination for the first of a certain type of place and we’ve got that here with DraftKings Sports & Social.”
Partnered with Live! Hospitality & Entertainment to create DraftKings Sports & Social, the online sports betting operator is hopeful the Troy location will set the standard to allow the idea to further expand.
“There’s definitely a few other spots in Michigan we would like to think about. We definitely want to see this one through and make sure it’s as great as we think it’s going to be,” Elbaum said. “We would love to roll these out in other states where we have so many different online products to make sure we’re giving our customers extra experiences along the way.”
Long, a current analyst for the Detroit Pistons on Bally Sports Detroit, heaped praise on the venue and has already committed to being a regular presence at DraftKings Sports & Social.
“This will be the destination place, I can guarantee it, from this point on,” Long said. “Just coming into the front door gives you a sense of this is the place to be when you want to come and celebrate, when you want to watch any type of sporting event, this will be the place. Troy, you’ve got a gem.”

DraftKings one of Michigan’s top online sportsbooks
DraftKings Sportsbook has been firmly planted in Michigan since the state legalized online sports betting in January of 2021.
It has remained one of the top online sportsbooks in the state since, recording over $1.8 billion in handle.
This latest move to opening its own sports betting lounge in Troy is a sign of what’s to come from sportsbooks as they look to offer a unique experience for customers.
“In a competitive space like the online sports betting space, you have to find ways to differentiate yourself and find ways to speak to your customers, and we feel this is a great way to do that,” Elbaum said.
Following the release of October’s revenue numbers, DraftKings placed second in the state for monthly sports betting handle for the fifth consecutive month.
