The PokerStars Casino app in Michigan will have an exclusive Detroit Red Wings-branded NHL casino game soon thanks to a partnership with Play’n GO.
The NHL-themed game will feature the youthful, emerging Red Wings team, which is aiming to return to the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time since the 2015-16 season. The game will initially be available only at PokerStars Casino Michigan, via the mobile app or website.
The operator likely hopes this exclusive offering will help boost its performance among Michigan online casinos. So far, it has consistently ranked among the bottom half of operators in terms of revenue. Perhaps a jolt of NHL fans flocking to play a game focused on their favorite team could tip the scales in PokerStars’ favor.
Red Wings game is the second recent Michigan debut for Play’n GO
This is the latest association between the game designer and PokerStars, following partnerships in Europe and other US jurisdictions. Earlier this month, Play’n GO announced its US launch of the Piggy Blitz game via BetMGM Casino Michigan. (It also launched via BetMGM in New Jersey.)

The Red Wings have one of the most loyal fan bases in the sport, and Michigan is one of just three states with legal online casinos that also have an NHL team. Michigan online casino revenue numbers for November were released last week, and PokerStars Casino continues to trail the top operators in the state. PokerStars reports a little over $100 million lifetime in Michigan, which ranks ninth, just behind Barstool/PENN and Caesars Palace Casino Michigan.
