MGM Resorts International scored a big victory last week when it was listed as the highest-ranked gaming company in the Forbes Global 2000 list for 2023.

The Forbes 2000 list ranks the world’s largest and most influential public companies.

MGM Resorts, which owns and operates the MGM Grand Detroit, as well as BetMGM Michigan online casino and online sportsbook, landed in 596th position of the 2,000 companies.

Forbes recognizes MGM Resorts as gaming leader

The Forbes Global 2000 list is put together based on a comprehensive assessment of multiple factors. That includes revenue, profits, assets and market value.

MGM Resorts International was the lone gaming company to land in the top 1,000, while finishing more than 700 places above its nearest gaming competitor, Caesars Entertainment (1,280th).

“We are immensely proud to see MGM Resorts recognized as the top gaming company on the prestigious Forbes 2000 list,” said Matt Buckley, President of Midwest Group, MGM Resorts International, in a press release. “Here at MGM Grand Detroit, our team members are committed to delivering unparalleled experiences to our valued guests, and this accolade is a testament of their hard work and dedication.”

MGM Grand Detroit a pioneer for MGM Resorts

The MGM Grand Detroit, which opened on July 29, 1999, was MGM Resorts first Las Vegas-style destination to open in the heart of a metropolitan area.

It was also the first resort-style entertainment destination built from the ground up in Detroit.

With 147,000 square feet of gaming floor, MGM Grand Detroit is the second largest casino in the state of Michigan. It is the largest of the three Detroit casinos.

You can find a vast selection of games at the MGM Grand Detroit, including over 2,950 slots and table games.

MGM Grand Detroit also features a poker room and the BetMGM Sports Lounge, one of the state’s few commercial retail sportsbooks.

BetMGM Michigan paving the way for online casinos

BetMGM has been the unquestioned Michigan online casinos leader in this state since launch.

With $1.2 billion in lifetime revenue, BetMGM Michigan holds 36.5% of the state’s online casino revenue share.

BetMGM has more than doubled the revenue of its nearest competitor. It also has more revenue than the bottom 12 online casino operators combined.

Through its dominance in the state, BetMGM has generated nearly $319 million in tax revenue for Michigan.
