The start of 2023 continued an upward trend for Michigan online casinos.
Included in that trend is Golden Nugget Casino MI, which put up a record number for monthly online casino revenue in January.
The online partner of Ojibwa Casinos and the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community has put its focus into its casino product to make it one of the most competitive in Michigan.
Big growth for Golden Nugget MI since 2021
Golden Nugget MI was one of the online casinos available upon Michigan’s launch of legalized online gaming in January of 2021.
In its first year of operation, Golden Nugget generated $50.6 million of revenue. That year, Golden Nugget had its peak month of revenue for the year with $6.14 million in December.
Moving to 2022, Golden Nugget generated $72.6 million in revenue for the year. That was a 45.5% increase year-to-year. That was slightly over Michigan’s overall online casino growth in 2022. As a collective, the online casino industry grew 42.1% in revenue ($1.11 billion to $1.58 billion).
Throughout 2022, Golden Nugget also generated more than $6.14 million in monthly revenue on seven occasions. That peaked in August 2022 with $7.2 million in revenue.
Starting off 2023, Golden Nugget got back on the record train. It narrowly edged August’s previous record by putting up $7.21 million in revenue.
Golden Nugget casino firmly fifth in Michigan
Looking at overall Michigan online casino revenue, Golden Nugget sits firmly at fifth in the state.
Golden Nugget’s market share in all-time Michigan online casino revenue sits at 4.6%. It has generated $130.4 million in the 25 months of recorded revenue in the state.
That puts it comfortably ahead of sixth, which is WynnBet Casino at $106.1 million. Golden Nugget has a lot of ground to get to fourth, which is BetRivers Casino at $187.4 million.
While Golden Nugget has been climbing, BetRivers has put together 14 consecutive months of revenue above Golden Nugget’s record of $7.21 million.
Focus on online casino gaming for Golden Nugget
Golden Nugget has clearly planted its flag in its iGaming product.
When it comes to online sports betting, Golden Nugget is a distant 13th in all-time handle with just $23.4 million over 25 months. That has only led to $1.66 million in revenue.
Golden Nugget does offer a robust selection on online casino games, which includes four exclusive name-branded games. Those are Golden Nugget Blackjack Live, Golden Nugget Megaways, Golden Nugget Stepper and Golden Nugget Video Slot.
