Gun Lake Casino has completed Phase 5 of its highly anticipated resort, celebrating with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday. The new features include a 16-story hotel, full-service spa and pool, and a brand-new restaurant. The project, which began in June 2022, represents the culmination of a $300 million investment.

Gun Lake Casino was already one of the state’s larger gaming properties with 2,300 slot machines, more than 50 table games and other entertainment. However, the completion of the new resort makes the property more of an all-purpose destination for vacationers.

Casino CEO, Sal Semola, said in a statement on the opening:

“Welcome to the all-new Gun Lake Casino Resort—this is where you want to be. With Phase 5, we have evolved into a full-service, year-round casino resort, offering amenities and experiences that set a new standard for the Midwest and rival top-tier gaming destinations across the country.”

What the new resort offers at Gun Lake

Perhaps a more suitable question, what doesn’t the resort offer? Gun Lake’s new investment offers guests 252 hotel rooms, with the Ogema Suite as the “crowned jewel of the resort,” the tribe described in the press release. It is a two-story, two-bedroom, two-bathroom penthouse spanning 3,368 square feet with an in-suite elevator, a full bar, and panoramic views of West Michigan.

Guests are also privy to health and wellness services, such as a full-service spa, which includes gooseneck massagers, bubble massage benches, and private treatment rooms with customizable lighting and music. There is also a full-service nail salon and fitness center, with state-of-the-art free weights and cardio machines.

Visitors can enjoy the pool at any time of year at the new resort, which is enclosed in an 32,000-square-foot glass atrium. There is a 21 and over VIP pool, along with a family pool, surrounded by live palm trees, private cabanas, and lush tropical flora. This particular feature opens in May.

In addition to several entertainment perks, which includes six new food vendors, Gun Lake Casino can host large meetings, conventions, weddings and private events.

Three-year project nears completion

The Gun Lake Casino brass had a vision since June 2022 that has finally just about finished up. The opening of the pool in May is the last domino to fall.

Gun Lake Casino highlighted those directly involved in the construction of the new resort. The press release issued the following statement:

“Gun Lake Casino Resort extends its deepest gratitude to the skilled tradespeople who made this expansion possible.

“Phase 5 directly employed 1,160 construction workers, including plumbers, electricians, welders, ironworkers, heavy equipment operators, carpenters, painters, and general laborers.

“We are especially grateful to the Southwest Michigan Building Trades for their continued partnership since our original groundbreaking in 2009.”

Gun Lake Casino currently employs 1,500 individuals, which covers several different departments such as gaming, hospitality, food and beverage, security, and executive management.
