Gun Lake Casino has been named “Best of the West” for 2024 as West Michigan’s best casino by Revue Magazine.

This is the fourth consecutive year that Gun Lake Casino, owned by the Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish Band of Pottawatomi, has been named “Best of the West” in the Revue casino category under “arts & attractions.”

Specifically, readers nominate businesses, and winners are chosen by voting from visitors to the Revue website.

Revue magazine is based in Grand Rapids and offers features and news surrounding entertainment, food, culture, and tourism, focusing on the western side of the state of Michigan.

So, it’s important to note the magazine’s region does not include the Detroit area home to three major casinos in the MGM Grand Detroit, the MotorCity Casino and the Hollywood Casino at Greektown.

FireKeepers, Soaring Eagle rank second and third, respectively

Gun Lake and the Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish Band of Pottawatomi expressed gratitute for being selected. The casino is operated by MPM Enterprises, LLC., a subsidiary of the Pottawatomi tribal nation.

FireKeepers Casino Hotel in Battle Creek, and Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort in Mt. Pleasant were mentioned as finalists in the casino category. Other winners in the overall attractions category were: John Ball Zoo and the Grand Rapids Civic Theatre.

Michigan casinos are sprinkled across the state, but for many avid visitors to gaming venues, Gun Lake and other facilities in western Michigan are considered the most attractive destinations, based on comfort, entertainment, and dining options.

$300 million Gun Lake expansion will be completed by spring of 2025

In April of 2025, Gun Lake will debut a new complex called Wawyé Oasis.

It will feature:

  • 32,000 square foot glass atrium space
  • multiple swimming pools
  • private guest cabanas
  • a swim-up bar
  • an entertainment stage
  • dining offerings
  • palm trees and tropical flora

The Oasis is a portion of a $300-million expansion. Specifically, the expansion will include a towering 252-room hotel, full service spa, additional dining options, and conference areas. Further, the hotel is expected to open in March of 2025.
