The Detroit Lions secured their first win of the 2022 NFL Season on Sunday.
More importantly to sports bettors in Michigan, they also covered the spread.
Following a 36-27 win over Washington at home, the Lions will look to put together back-to-back wins when they travel to face the Minnesota Vikings in Week 3.
Amon-Ra St. Brown will be pursuing NFL history, while the Detroit Lions defensive front will be in pursuit of Kirk Cousins.

The over/under total is opened at 50.5 points at most Michigan sportsbooks. It is now sitting at 53.5 points.
Detroit Lions betting trends
The Lions continued to do well when it comes to their NFL game odds. They covered as a 1-point favorite on Sunday to go 2-0 against the spread on the season.
Detroit is now 13-6 against the spread in its last 19 games.
Minnesota is 1-1 overall and 1-1 against the spread thus far in the 2022 season. The Vikings opened with a dominant 23-7 win over Green Bay at home in Week 1, but had the score nearly flipped on them against the Eagles.

NFL Week 3 Prop Odds: Amon-Ra St. Brown receptions
It’s safe to say Amon-Ra St. Brown has found his role in the Detroit Lions offense.
Dating back to his strong finish to the 2021 season, St. Brown is off to a hot start in 2022.
On Sunday, Brown tied an NFL record with his eighth consecutive game with at least eight receptions. Only Antonio Brown and Michael Thomas have done the same, and no player has done it for nine consecutive games.
That will be the task ahead of the second-year receiver on Sunday at Minnesota.
Brown has clearly become a top target for Lions quarterback Jared Goff. Over this eight-game stretch, St. Brown has drawn double-digit targets each game. Here’s a look at his remarkable run:
- Dec. 5, 2021 vs. Minnesota: 10 receptions, 86 yards, 1 TD
- Dec. 12, 2021 at Denver: 8 receptions, 73 yards
- Dec. 19, 2021 vs. Arizona: 8 receptions, 90 yards, 1 TD
- Dec. 26, 2021 at Atlanta: 9 receptions, 91 yards, 1 TD
- Jan. 2, 2022 at Seattle: 8 receptions, 111 yards, 1 TD
- Jan. 9, 2022 vs. Green Bay: 8 receptions, 109 yards, 1 TD
- Sept. 11, 2022 vs. Philadelphia: 8 receptions, 64 yards, 1 TD
- Sept. 18, 2022 vs. Washington: 9 receptions, 116 yards, 2 TD
Currently, St. Brown has an over/under of 6.5 receptions for Sunday’s game according to DraftKings Sportsbook MI. The over sits at -135. DraftKings also lists his over/under for receiving yards at 69.5. His over/under for longest reception sits at 22.5 yards.
“Enough good things cannot be said about the rise of a talented and hard working young NFL player. St. Brown must continue to be the focal point of this offense. What is aiding his ability securing elevated numbers of receptions every week has been the big play threat of running back D’Andre Swift. While the Vikings’ defense should give him more attention, I think he should be able to secure 8-9 receptions this week in Minnesota,” said John Maakron of All Lions.
St. Brown is also looking to catch a touchdown pass in a seventh consecutive game. That would be a new Lions franchise record. DraftKings lists ASB at +135 to score a TD in Sunday’s game.
NFL Week 3 Prop Odds: Detroit Lions sacks
After struggling to establish a consistent pass rush for years, the Lions broke out of that funk on Sunday against Washington.
The Lions got to Carson Wentz five times, with rookie Aidan Hutchinson securing three sacks of his own.
In Week 1, Jalen Hurts was able to avoid the Detroit pass rush with his legs. That was something Wentz couldn’t duplicate.
This week, the Lions face another quarterback that will struggle to escape the pocket in Minnesota’s Kirk Cousins.
Cousins was sacked once in their win over Green Bay, but he took a total of eight hits. On Monday, Cousins was sacked twice and took seven hits against Philly. Dating back to the end of the 2021 season, Cousins was sacked 11 times over his final three games.
Detroit defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn saw what pressure did for his unit in the first half against Washington. Expect more pressure to come in Week 3.
“Aidan Hutchinson and the Detroit Lions’ defensive line were stellar in Week 2. Something to pay attention to that could impede Detroit’s pass rush this week is the hand injury to defensive lineman John Cominsky, who has performed admirably in his debut season in Motown,” Maakaron said. “I think Kirk Cousins will learn from reviewing the tape of the Washington game and will attempt to get the ball out much quicker. If not, Detroit could see increased opportunities to get into the backfield. I think the team will finish with 2-3 sacks this week.”
Oddsmakers are listing the Lions at -145 for 2+ sacks in Sunday’s game with the Vikings.
