The Michigan Gaming Control Board remains committed to promoting responsible gaming.
On Monday, the MGCB announced a new statewide, multi-media responsible gaming campaign “Don’t Regret the Bet.”
The campaign is to encourage Michigan residents to wager responsibly when placing bets using the state’s legal and regulated forms of gambling. March is Problem Gambling Awareness Month.

The “Don’t Regret the Bet” campaign will include an aggressive media push through all forms of advertising around the state. It will take place throughout the rest of 2023.
“Michigan residents will hear and see new public service messages on local TV and radio stations and on popular social media platforms reminding them to enjoy gaming responsibly,” said Henry Williams, Michigan Gaming Control Board executive director in a press release. “March is Problem Gambling Awareness Month, making it the perfect time to launch the MGCB’s educational campaign. The yearlong campaign is a crucial step in our ongoing efforts to reach the public with information, tips and tactics promoting responsible gaming.”
This campaign was developed in partnership with Lansing-based King Media. Included in the campaign will be:
- Broadcast TV and radio advertising
- Point-of-sale video ads at gas stations
- Digital billboards
- Social media
- Digital media
- Streaming services
- Podcast advertisements
“We are honored to partner with the MGCB to promote responsible gambling,” said Coleen King, president and founder of King Media. “Don’t Regret the Bet is a campaign that will have a positive impact on individuals and communities across Michigan, and that aligns perfectly with our focus on meaningful work.”
New website included in MGCB responsible gaming campaign
Along with the ad campaign, a new education website is being launched.
DontRegretTheBet.org has information on responsible gaming. That includes resources, gaming tools, self-assessment information and signs of problem gambling.
The MGCB website will continue to have its Responsible Gaming section as well that will now include a link to the new site.
Funding for the campaign and website was included in the 2023 fiscal year budget for the MGCB. The budget was approved by the Michigan Legislature last year. It was part of the State of Michigan budget that was signed by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.
The MGCB is currently seeking ongoing funding in its 2024 fiscal year budget request to continue the campaign beyond 2023.
