The Michigan Legislature may soon take action on legislation to bring sports betting to the state. If that happens residents of the Wolverine State may be able to legally place wagers on the upcoming college football season.
FanDuel Sportsbook has posted win totals and odds for college football teams in 10 conferences. One of them is the Big 10. Michigan and Michigan State belong to that conference.
Michigan and Michigan State single-game odds and futures are now posted on FanDuel. The futures include the 2019 Big 10 conference championship, college football playoff odds and 2019 Heisman Trophy odds.
Comprehensive lines for all teams’ first games of their seasons are live. Several games throughout the season, listed as “Games of the Year,” have also been posted.
FanDuel win totals for the Michigan Wolverines
FanDuel oddsmakers are high on Michigan for the 2019 season. The Wolverines have the conference’s second-highest posted win total for the upcoming season.
The over/under for 2019 is 9.5. The odds are better on the under at +142. The odds on the over are at -168.
FanDuel’s odds to win the college football playoff also feature Michigan. The Wolverines are +2200. Only five other schools are more likely to win the championship according to FanDuel.
Michigan is +200 to win the Big 10 title. Only Ohio State is more likely to win the conference in the current odds.
Other Michigan FanDuel futures
Michigan is -31 to win its first game of the season against Middle Tennessee State. The line is -110.
Later games in the season also have lines. Michigan is a 3.5-point favorite at Wisconsin on Sept. 21 and at Penn State Oct 19.
Additionally, the Wolverines are:
- 2.5-point favorites at home against Ohio State Nov. 30,
- 5.5-point favorites at home against Notre Dame Oct. 26
- 13-point favorites at home against Iowa on Oct. 5.
Lines on all those games are also -110.
Quarterback Shea Patterson is currently +3600 to win the 2019 Heisman Trophy. He is the only Wolverine among FanDuel’s favorites.
Michigan State Spartans FanDuel Futures
Although FanDuel isn’t as high on Michigan State for 2019, the Spartans are still expected to have a successful season.
Michigan State’s over/under is 7.5. The over is +100 while the under is -120. The Spartans are +6500 to win the College Football Playoff.
Michigan State is +3000 to win the Big 10 championship game. The Spartans are a 21.5-point favorite to open the season at home against Tulsa. The line on Michigan State for that game is -1700.
Michigan State is only featured in one of FanDuel’s “Games of the Year.” The Spartans are a 14.5-point underdog on Oct. 5 at Ohio State. The line is -110.
None of the Spartans’ players are listed among the favorites to win the Heisman Trophy in 2019.
All these odds are current as of Thursday, June 27. It’s possible they could change before Michigan and Michigan State start their respective seasons, especially if there are major injuries that could affect the 2019 Big 10 season.
Although Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has concerns over how legal sports betting might affect the Michigan online lottery, it’s possible the action could become legal before August. This is where the Spartans and Wolverines sit if that happens.
