Déjà Vu All Over Again: Michigan Lotto 47 Jackpot Hits For Third Time In Less Than 2 Months

At this rate, the 47 in Michigan Lotto 47 might come to represent the number of times Michiganders hit its biggest prize this year.

Just over a month after the last strike of the game’s progressive jackpot, another player got lucky this past Saturday.

Going back a bit further, this is the third such win in the game in under two months. It’s a situation that Michigan Lottery players should not expect to sustain itself, no matter the current results.

Lottery is searching (again) for latest Michigan Lotto 47 winner

Last week, someone bought a Lotto 47 ticket at Shoppers Market Plus on E. Nine Mile Rd in Warren. The ticket matched all six numbers in Saturday’s drawing, which were 07-12-22-24-30-37. At that time, the jackpot was worth $2.08 million.

If you hold that winning ticket, you should call (517) 373-1237 to set up an appointment to claim your prize. However, before doing so, you should consult with an attorney and financial professional. They can help you limit your tax liability, protect your identity and set up your windfall to grow.

You have up to a year to claim the prize, so there’s no immediate rush. It’s better to wait a few weeks and be prepared. At the same time, you should secure that winning ticket immediately. It’s worth hundreds of thousands of dollars after taxes.

Whoever this winner is, they aren’t the only person who has recently dealt with the “problem” of having to formulate a plan for claiming a large lottery prize.

In fact, this has been a relatively common occurrence in MI of late.

Just the latest in a series of similar wins

On Aug. 18, an Oakland County woman hit the Lotto 47 jackpot in this game, sitting at $1.8 million. On July 31, another player hit the big prize, which was an eye-popping $18.4 million then. These hits make for three such wins in under two months.

Such streaks for this game aren’t that common. Prior to that July 31 jackpot, no players had matched all six numbers playing the game for more than six months. It stands to reason, considering the game’s odds. The likelihood of matching all six numbers is 1 in 10.7 million.

Despite the long odds for Lotto 47 and other games, September has been a great month for MI Lottery players. Last week, a Genesee County man won $1 million playing Red Hot Millions, an instant-win game.

This win brings the unofficial count of players to win a prize of at least seven figures playing MI Lottery games this year to 42, approaching last year’s total of 48. It would be quite appropriate if the 47th came playing Lotto 47.

At this pace, that possibility isn’t all that unrealistic, either.
