DraftKings Adds Spanish 21 As Michigan Online Casinos Continue to Boost Offerings

Written By Matt Schoch on May 20, 2021

A new blackjack variant has wedged into the roster of Michigan online casino games.

DraftKings Casino has rolled out its self-built Spanish 21 game, the first of its kind in Michigan. The company already rolled out Spanish 21 in New Jersey.

DraftKings is incentivizing you to try it out this week, offering a promotion where if you play $10 of real-money bets, you get $10 of free credits to play on the game. The promotion runs through Saturday night.

Expect more rollouts in time, as online casinos are a focus of the Michigan scene. Through 99 days, 12 internet gaming operators raised $299.0 million in revenue. There are now 13 MI online casinos. after PointsBet launched its first online casino of any kind in the state in early May.

How to play Spanish 21 blackjack

Spanish 21 is played like traditional blackjack, where the dealer hits on 16 and stands on 17.

However, a natural 21 on the first two cards always wins, and is paid whether or not the dealer has a blackjack.

Additionally, players can double down on any number of cards, surrender after doubling down on the original bet, and, after splitting aces, draw unlimited subsequent cards.
