Over the next two weeks, the Michigan Lottery is giving people 20,000 extra reasons to play online lottery games.

Through March 18, the Michigan Lottery hosts its new Shamrock Play Giveaway promotion. Twenty thousand dollars is on the line for a lucky winner. The lottery will award this grand prize on March 21.

Online lottery players can earn up to 530 entries (in a variety of different ways) each and every day by logging on to MichiganLottery.com.

According to the Michigan Lottery:

“Beginning Tuesday, players may visit MichiganLottery.com to be eligible to earn up to 530 entries per day for the $20,000 giveaway. Players will be required to log in to their Lottery account and play featured online games or make a deposit into their account to earn the entries.

Additional details about how to earn entries will be available online. Players who do not have a Lottery online account must sign up and make a first-time purchase to participate.”

Additionally, all earned entries validate players for bonus drawings. These will award a total of $8,000 to 20 lucky winners. These come via 10 online bonuses of $100 and 10 online bonuses of $300 to randomly selected players on two separate dates: March 13 and March 21.

An overwhelming success in Michigan

Since launching in 2014, online lottery has thrived in Michigan.

According to the Michigan Lottery, more than 750,000 Michiganders have registered for online lottery accounts. Plus, online players have won more than $535 million, including multiple six-figure jackpots.

Per the Michigan Lottery:

“Michigan Lottery players have a chance to win up to $500,000 instantly playing online. Players also may win prizes ranging from $1 up to multimillion dollar jackpots playing Powerball, Mega Millions, Lotto 47, and Fantasy 5 online.

Through its online platform, the Lottery offers players more than 50 different games with plays ranging in price from 5 cents to $20.”

For the state, the lottery’s expansion into the online arena has also paid dividends. It’s added more than $160 million to the state’s coffers in its three year-existence, without cannibalizing the Michigan’s brick and mortar lottery retailers.

Finally, let’s break it down with a few figures:

  • $18.5 million in net online profit in FY2014-15 off of $ 146,189,761 in sales.
  • $48 million in net online profit in FY2015-16 off of $384,992,537 in sales.
  • $97 million in net online profit in FY2016-17 (final sales numbers have yet to be reported).
