The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) issued 10 cease-and-desist letters to illegal, offshore gambling operators, which include Club World Casinos and High Noon. The MGCB remains steadfast in promoting legal online casinos and sports betting platforms within the state.

All 10 operators are owned by Apex Dynamics Ltd., a company based in Belize. MGCB Executive Director, Henry Williams, is making it a mission to protect the industry. He said in a statement:

“The Gaming Control Board’s relentless dedication to maintaining the integrity of Michigan’s gaming industry drives our efforts.

“We will continue to take strong action to shut down illegal operations that undermine trust in Michigan’s legal gaming system.”

Illegal operators have 14 days to comply

In its press release, the MGCB “will remain vigilant” in other illegal operators that infiltrate the state. It even described the next steps following the cease-and-desist letters to Apex Dynamics Ltd.:

“The 10 operators have been given 14 days from the date of receipt of their cease-and-desist letters to cease their illegal activities.

“If they fail to comply, the MGCB will work closely with the Michigan Attorney General’s Office to pursue further legal action.”

In addition to Club World Casinos and High Noon, the following operators received cease-and-desist letters:

  • Aladdin’s Gold Casino
  • All Star Slots
  • Buzz Luck
  • CryptoReels
  • Lucky Red Casino
  • Manhattan Slots Casino
  • ReelSpin Casino
  • Slotter Casino

The MGCB conducted an investigation into these platforms and determined that multiple violations of Michigan state laws occurred, including the Lawful Internet Gaming Act, the Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act, and the Michigan Penal Code.

The MGCB has been firm on illegal gambling that takes place in the state. That spans from offshore sports betting operators and casinos, along with in-person gambling rings.

The MGCB issued its latest cease-and-desist letter to BetNow. Earlier in February, the Board contacted nine other offshore operators.

The MGCB has been mostly successful in eliminating illegal gambling. Its biggest win was against Bovada, a well-known offshore sports betting platform. Ultimately, Bovada complied.

This probably won’t be the last time the MGCB is chasing away another illegal operator.
