The road to riches has suddenly hit Jackpot Drive for one Michigan Lottery Lotto 47 player.

One ticket in Saturday’s edition of the twice-weekly drawing matched the six numbers drawn to win the game’s $18.41 million jackpot.

The winning ticket (of numbers 3-5-10-20-28-31 among a 1 through 47 pool) was purchased at the Family E-Z Mart, located at 567 East Houghton Lake Drive in Prudenville. The Roscommon County town is about 20 miles south of Grayling.

Another lucky winner was announced this week by the Michigan Lottery, as a $1 million ticket was purchased in Lansing for Wednesday’s Powerball drawing.

If you have the winning ticket, which was purchased at the Quality Dairy at 5010 Dunckel, the Michigan Lottery asks that you call its public relations division at 517-373-1237.

So you’ve won the lottery. Now what?

The first thing a player in the Lotto 47 game from the Michigan Lottery, as well as Powerball, needs to know is that they have one year after the drawing to claim their prizes.

Why would someone wait past such a deadline to cash in? It’s a fair question, but the circumstances are not unheard of.

But, assuming the player accomplishes that step of realizing they’ve and comes down from Cloud Nine, they have two options for their newfound windfall.

  • They can take 30 annuity payments of about $614,000 each, given that $18.4 million jackpot.
  • They can take a one-time cash payment of about $11.7 million.

Either way, that’s a score that simply adds to the massive list of millionaires the Michigan Lottery is amassing in 2021.

The Lotto 47 jackpot, which comes from a base ticket purchase of $1, had gone without the ultimate prize since January, when a Wayne County player won a $1.2 million jackpot.

The lucky player should contact the lottery’s public relations division at 517-373-1237 to setup an appointment to claim their prize.

August brings more new lottery wrinkles

This month will see the continuation of some large-money multistate lottery games and the expansion of an old favorite.

As we reported last month, the Lucky for Life game has moved to a daily drawing and has been in effect since mid-July. Later this month, on Aug. 23, Powerball will move to three days a week by adding a Monday drawing to its established Wednesday and Saturday dates.
