$350 Million Gun Lake renovation project nears final phase

In May of 2022, Gun Lake broke ground on a $350 million renovation project that includes a 252-room hotel resort, an aquadome, and expansive outdoor gardens and entertainment stages. Once the project, which is said to be “in phase 5” by Gun Lake spokespeople, is completed, the facility will be one of the largest and most modern in Michigan. It will have more hotel rooms than any casino in the state outside of Detroit.

Gun Lake Casino is located only 15 minutes from downtown Grand Rapids, the second-largest city in Michigan, and only a few minutes from Kalamazoo, just off US 131.

The gaming floor boasts just over 2,500 state-of-the-art slot machines, nearly 50 gaming tables, keno, and a retail sportsbook called 131 Sportsbook, which also has an app available for Android and iPhone users.

Gun Lake currently has five restaurants, with two more expected when the renovation is completed in early 2024. The buffet at Harvest Buffet is considered one of the best casino buffets in the region. Prices for the buffet start at $17.99 up to $54.99 for crab leg offerings.

The new Gun Lake Casino resort and hotel building will also have a 32,000-square foot Indoor Pool Complex with luscious live palm trees, tropical flora, and a settled temperature of 80 degrees. With two swimming pools, the swimming area will be a fully enclosed beautiful glass atrium that allows natural daylight in. At night, concert lighting and live entertainment at an adjacent night club will provide options for visitors.
