World Series of Poker has introduced a new feature for Michigan online poker players.

Late in January, WSOP launched Mystery Bounty events to its offerings in Michigan. Mystery bounties were added in Pennsylvania shortly after.

A popular format overseas, WSOP is hoping the launches will be the start to expanding it to other regulated states in the U.S.

WSOP MI adds Mystery Bounty poker tournaments

WSOP mystery bounty screenshot.Similar to a standard bounty tournament, where part of the buy-in is set aside for the bounty pool, mystery bounty events add a little twist. Each player is randomly assigned a mystery bounty.

The bounties don’t come into play immediately. Players need to get through the opening phase of the event.

Once players reach a cutoff into the bounty phase, each player has a bounty placed on them. The bounties are unknown until each player is eliminated. If you eliminate a player, you collect that mystery bounty total for yourself.

Bounties will vary depending on the size of the event, but some can be as high as 1,000X the buy-in.

So, even if you don’t win or place in the tournament itself, you can still collect some nice payouts for eliminating players along the way.

Daily Mystery Bounty tournaments at WSOP Michigan

WSOP MI is holding mystery bounty events throughout each day, with buy-ins as low as $5.

The prize pool commits half the money to the actual tournament finish, with the other going toward the bounties.

Top bounties in each daily tournament are 10X the buy-in, with the bounty phase kicking in at level 17 of the tournament.

Each buy-in is for $8,000 in chips and allows for unlimited rebuys.

Mystery Bounty to be part of 2023 WSOP

Last year, the mystery bounty format was included in the 2022 World Series of Poker.

With a $1,000 buy-in and a top bounty of $1 million, the event drew a total field of over 14,000 entries. That led to an $8.3 million pool.

Pennsylvania poker player Matt Glantz won the $1 million bounty last year. Minnesota’s Quincy Borland won the actual tournament with a top prize of just over $750,000.

This year, WSOP 2023 will have the $1,000 Mystery Millions No-Limit Hold’em event take place on May 31.

The $1,000 buy-in also offers a guaranteed top mystery bounty of $1 million.
