Cole Rush has been writing about gambling for ten years. He worked in Corporate Communications and Marketing roles at a major gambling supplier for six years, then went freelance in 2020 following a pandemic-spurred layoff and never looked back. Cole writes for many publications, including Gaming Today, PlayUSA, PlayIllinois, and iGaming Business. Beyond his work in the gambling arena, Cole covers books and pop culture for The Quill To Live and Reactor (formerly Tor.com). His insatiable appetite for stories fuels his coverage; he plows through 50+ fantasy books each year. Cole is a Chicagoland native and has lived in the city proper for ten years. He gets his hands on a Chicago-style hot dog whenever the opportunity presents itself. His sports loyalties are intrinsically tied to the Windy City. He is, unfortunately, a Chicago Bears fan through and through.
Whenever he gets the chance, Cole covers odd and obscure sports: Jai Alai, pickleball, cornhole, and countless others. Cole graduated from the University of Iowa in 2014 with a degree in creative writing. Increasingly disenchanted with the pay-to-play nature of higher education and a lack of interest in college sports, Cole stopped wearing Iowa gear to avoid questions about the school’s teams, which he doesn’t follow. Outside of work, you’re likely to find Cole with his nose in a book or with his eyes glued to any number of reality competition shows (he’s a Survivor contestant wannabe and submits an audition every year).
