Hollywood Online Casino Michigan | Review & Better Alternatives
- A smaller game library than the market leaders — roughly 700+ games versus the 1,000-plus catalogs at the top MI casinos
- Live chat opens with a chatbot before you can reach a human

Hollywood Online Casino has a welcome offer for new sign-ups, and no Hollywood Casino promo code is needed to receive it. In this review, we delve into its collection of slots and table games, take a closer look at the app’s design, assess the available banking options, and offer some better alternatives if you’re looking for a new Michigan online casino.
Hollywood Online Casino Michigan is a legit, MGCB-licensed site and the online side of the Hollywood Casino at Greektown in Detroit, and its live dealer room is a genuine strength. But the library trails the market leaders, the welcome offer is modest, and the support options lean on a chatbot before a human. Our verdict is mixed, and we would point most Michigan players somewhere else. Below is how Hollywood stacks up across the state’s Michigan online casinos, and the sites we would pick over Hollywood online casino Michigan.
Hollywood online casino Michigan promo code & ongoing offers | 4/5
You won’t have to punch in a Hollywood Casino promo code — the welcome offer applies when you register through the sign-up link, then deposit and wager $5 to unlock $50 in PENN Play Credits plus 50 bonus spins. Per the terms, winnings from the credit turn into withdrawable cash, and the spins don’t carry extra wagering, though they expire within a few days. The weak point is the size. At $50 it is one of the smaller opening offers in Michigan, and once you hold it up against the Michigan online casino bonuses the bigger brands run, it looks slight. If a larger, more useful bonus is what you’re after, the BetMGM online casino match runs up to $1,000 plus $25 on the house, and the DraftKings online casino new-player package is far heftier.

Here’s how the welcome offer compares to three of the top MI casinos:
| Operator | Welcome offer | Min. deposit | Payout speed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hollywood | $50 credit + 50 spins | $10 (wager $5) | Instant–3 days |
| BetMGM | 100% match up to $1,000 + $25 on the house | $10 | Instant–5 days |
| FanDuel | 500 bonus spins | $10 | Fast (e-wallet) |
| DraftKings | 1,000 Flex Spins | $5 (wager $5) | Instant–2 days |
Hollywood casino bonuses for existing Michigan players
Hollywood does keep a rotating set of promos under the “Promos” tab, and PENN Play ties them together. The lineup includes a Crazy Time cashback deal (50% back on net winnings or losses, up to $50), a blackjack odds boost, and slot spin-and-cashback challenges. PENN Play climbs through Play, Advantage, Preferred, Elite, and Owners Club tiers, with perks that reach into Penn’s physical casinos. It’s a reasonable setup, but the day-to-day value is lighter than rival programs, and everything is locked to Penn’s ecosystem. A recent lineup looked like this:
- Up to $1,000 in PENN Cash for new PENN Play app sign-ups
- Crazy Time cashback — 50% back up to $50
- Blackjack odds boost — up to $50 added on a natural blackjack
- Slot challenges worth up to 100 bonus spins and $25 in cashback
If loyalty is the thing you care about, the BetRivers online casino iRush Rewards program offers daily rewards and a tier ladder that climbs quicker.

Hollywood casino online Michigan sign-up & verification (KYC) process | 4.3/5
Signing up is quick, and this is one area where Hollywood holds its own. New players register with an email, phone number, and username, confirm through a verification link, then enter their name, address, and the last four digits of their SSN before uploading a photo ID. The operator says verification takes a few minutes. Hollywood also walks you through setting deposit and play limits during sign-up. It’s a Penn Entertainment site regulated by the Michigan Gaming Control Board, which is what you want to see before handing over money or personal data.
Hollywood casino app & website experience | 4/5
The Hollywood Casino app runs on iOS and Android, and you can also play straight from a desktop or mobile browser. The design is clean, and every game thumbnail lists its studio and its minimum and maximum bets, which makes budgeting simple. The weak spot is moving around the app: switching from slots to table games returns you to the homepage and reloads it, and that adds up when you are hunting for a game.
Is the Hollywood Casino website any good?
The browser version is basically the app on a bigger screen. The two are identical: same games, same promos, same banking. There’s no real reason to install the app unless you want to play on the move. Neither is as fast or as sharp as the best apps in the state.
Our favorite apps like Hollywood Casino
If a fast, smooth app matters to you, the FanDuel online casino app is the better pick. Category switching is instant, and it doesn’t make you wait around the way Hollywood does. BetMGM’s app is just as polished and backs it with a much deeper catalog, so you spend your time playing instead of waiting on the interface.

Payment methods & banking options at Hollywood Casino | 4.4/5
Banking is where Hollywood is at its best. Hollywood online casino Michigan real money players get a wide spread of options for moving money in either direction.
Deposit methods
Deposits can be funded with a Visa or Mastercard card, online banking through Trustly, ACH/e-Check via VIP Preferred, Apple Pay, or the e-wallets PayPal, Skrill, and Venmo. Cash at the Greektown cage and wire transfer round it out. That’s a broader menu than several rivals give you, and the card, e-wallet and online banking methods are listed as instant. For a fuller picture of how these stack up statewide, PlayMichigan’s casino banking guide is worth a look.
Withdrawal methods
Cashing out was just as flexible, though you can only withdraw to a method you’ve already deposited with. PayPal, Skrill, and Venmo are listed as instant with no set limit, while ACH runs 2–3 business days. The slow lanes are the old ones: wire transfers (24 hours, $50,000 minimum) and mailed checks (14–21 business days). The instant e-wallet payouts are solid, but plenty of the state’s fastest payout casinos match them, so this isn’t a reason to pick Hollywood over the field.
| Method | Type | Speed | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| PayPal / Skrill / Venmo | e-wallet | Instant | No set limit |
| Debit (Visa/MC) | Card | Usually instant | Up to $50,000 |
| Online banking / ACH | Bank | Instant (RTP) or 2–3 business days | High limits |
| Cash at cage | In person | Same day | Greektown, up to $100,000 |
| Check by mail | 14–21 business days | $250 minimum |
Hollywood Casino game selection & game quality | 4/5
This is where Hollywood trails the field. The catalog runs to roughly 700+ games — respectable, but still short of the 1,000-plus libraries at the market leaders. The studios on hand are good ones (IGT, Red Tiger, Lightning Box, AGS, Light & Wonder, Evolution), and Penn Game Studios adds a few exclusives you won’t see anywhere else, but you’ll find fewer jackpots and high-RTP options than the biggest sites carry. The live dealer room is the standout: Evolution tables for blackjack, roulette, and baccarat, plus a set of newer Penn-branded live games, and it holds up against anything in the state. It’s slots depth, not live dealer, where the gap shows.
- Popular games: Cash Eruption (IGT), 777 Strike (Red Tiger), Lightning Gorilla (Lightning Box), Lightning Roulette Live (Evolution), Live Dealer Blackjack (Evolution)
- Higher-RTP picks: Lightning Gorilla (96.18%), Cash Eruption (96%), 777 Strike (95.8%)
- Studios: IGT, Red Tiger, Lightning Box, AGS, Light & Wonder, Evolution, Penn Game Studios
For raw catalog size, plus far more slots and jackpot options, BetMGM and DraftKings both leave Hollywood behind.

What’s missing from the Hollywood library?
The biggest gap is the slots shelf. Hollywood recently plugged into Light & Wonder’s Wonder Drops jackpot network, which helps, but the biggest MI operators still carry noticeably larger catalogs and far deeper table-game and video-poker sections. If sheer choice is your priority, this isn’t the top site in the state.
Customer support at Hollywood Casino | 3/5
On paper the coverage looks fine. Inside the app and website’s “Contact Us” section there’s live chat, plus a callback line at (844) 953-2121 and email at support@hollywoodcasino.com, and Hollywood says support is staffed 24/7/365. The “live chat” opens with a chatbot rather than a person, and reaching a human takes an extra step. Email replies are listed as averaging around 12 hours, so the channels exist and the hours are generous, but the frontline experience is not as quick as the best in the state.
Pros and cons of Hollywood Online Casino
The payout side earns its marks, with PayPal, Skrill and Venmo withdrawals listed as instant. Everything else bumps into the same ceiling: a catalog that trails the biggest rivals, a modest welcome bonus, and a support chat that opens with a chatbot. Here’s the short version.
What we liked about Hollywood Online Casino
- Strong live dealer room (Evolution plus new Penn-branded tables)
- Fast, flexible banking with instant e-wallet payouts
- Clean layout, with bet limits and studio info on every game
- Deposit and play limits built into sign-up
What Hollywood Online Casino needs to fix
- A smaller library than the market leaders (700+ games vs 1,000+)
- A small $50 + 50-spins welcome offer next to the bigger brands
- Live chat opens with a chatbot before you can reach a human
- Switching game categories sends you back to the homepage and reloads it
What others are saying about Hollywood Online Casino
Our read is not an outlier. On the Apple App Store and Google Play, Hollywood’s app pulls middling scores, and players keep landing on the same points: they like the simple layout and quick payouts, and they’re frustrated that the catalog trails the biggest rivals and by clunky navigation.
✅ Players like the easy sign-up and fast cashouts
✅ The live dealer selection draws repeat praise
✖ A catalog smaller than the biggest rivals comes up often
✖ Reviewers flag slow loading and awkward category switching
Is Hollywood Online Casino legit?
Yes. Hollywood is a fully legal, MGCB-licensed operator run by Penn Entertainment, one of the biggest gaming companies in the country. It went live in Michigan on Nov. 14, 2023, after Penn wound down its Barstool partnership, and it’s tied to the Hollywood Casino at Greektown in Detroit. Safety is not the concern here: it has real identity checks, encrypted transactions, responsible-gaming tools, and a known company behind it. The hesitation is about value and depth next to the competition. If you ever want to slow down or set limits, PlayMichigan’s responsible gambling resources walk through the options.
Updates: What’s new at Hollywood Casino?
We keep this current by checking the app stores, the promos page, and Penn’s releases. Recent notes:
- Hollywood now runs as a standalone app after Penn’s sportsbook shifted from ESPN Bet to theScore Bet in Michigan; the two share an account, so one login covers casino and sports.
- Hollywood added Wonder Drops jackpots through Light & Wonder, its first real move into networked jackpot slots.
- Penn Game Studios keeps adding exclusive titles and Penn-branded live dealer games.
- The welcome offer of $50 in PENN Play Credits plus 50 bonus spins is unlocked by a $5 wager; no promo code is needed.
Our favorite sites like Hollywood Online Casino
If Hollywood’s weak spots are dealbreakers for you, and for most players they will be, these three MI casinos fix exactly what’s missing:
- BetMGM Casino — a far bigger library and live dealer selection, a welcome match up to $1,000, and MGM Rewards. It beats Hollywood on the two things that matter most: depth and bonus value.
- FanDuel Casino — one of the fastest, smoothest apps in the state, a low $5 deposit, and quick e-wallet payouts. It fixes Hollywood’s sluggish navigation.
- BetRivers Casino — the best loyalty program of the group through iRush Rewards, with daily rewards and a tier system that leaves Hollywood’s thin, Penn-locked promos behind.

Final thoughts about Hollywood Online Casino Michigan
Our verdict is that Hollywood is safe and, in spots, fun. The live dealer room and easy banking are real positives. But it’s outclassed. A catalog that comes up short of the market leaders, a modest welcome offer, sluggish navigation, and thin ongoing promos add up to a site that sits a tier below the best in most of the categories that count. Unless you’re specifically there for the live tables, we’d steer you to a deeper, faster, better-supported option before you sign up for Hollywood online casino Michigan.

For a bigger library and bonus, we’d take BetMGM; for the best app and lowest deposit, FanDuel; and for loyalty rewards, BetRivers
