Online casinos started off 2024 with another record in Michigan. In January, the 15 online casinos in the state combined for $181.9 million in revenue through slots, poker and table games.

The mark just narrowly edges the previous monthly record of $181.4 million — set in December, 2023 — by 0.3%.

However, the January figure is an 18.3% jump from January 2023’s $153.7 million in revenue, which was a new record at that time.

Three takeaways from January’s report

Yet another record set

Online casino revenue keeps raising the bar, setting a new monthly record for the third consecutive month.

November started the trend with $175.3 million. That was surpassed in December with $181.4 million, which was leapfrogged by January.

This marks the first time that Michigan has recorded at least $175 million in monthly iGaming revenue for the three straight months. The only other time it surpassed $170 million was March of 2023.

Big three account for 70% of revenue

The big three online casino operators in Michigan each had solid showings in January, even though non set a new operator record.

That total accounts for 70.1% of the state’s combined revenue for all operators.

BetRivers, Caesars continue upward trend

Two online casinos that were riding hot streaks in Michigan to end 2023 continued that trend to open 2024.

BetRivers Casino Michigan recorded at least $10 million in revenue for the fourth consecutive month and at least $11 million for the second.

In January, BetRivers brought in $11.483 million. That was just a few thousand dollars shy of December’s $11.489 million record.

Caesars is also continuing a hot streak as it has set a new revenue record for the third consecutive month.

After crossing $9 million in both November and December, Caesars brought in $10.2 million in January between Caesars Palace Michigan and Caesars Sportsbook.

Caesars was one of six online operators in Michigan to see at least 30% revenue growth in its iGaming revenue from 2022 to 2023. BetRivers had 9.2% growth in 2023.
