Gambling entertainer and influencer “Vegas Matt” will make an appearance at MotorCity Casino in Detroit on Saturday, November 16, in conjunction with FanDuel Casino.
The program will be a 90-minute Vegas Matt Show streamed live on YouTube and via FanDuel social media channels starting at 7 p.m. on Saturday. Visitors to MotorCity Casino can watch live for free at the Sound Board on location.
What will Vegas Matt be doing at MotorCity Casino?
Vegas Matt retired from a career as a business executive and business owner a little more than a decade ago. He then embarked on a venture to become a social media influencer in the gambling space thanks to his YouTube page.
The event at the downtown Detroit casino will be moderated by Lisa Kerney of FanDuel. She will conduct interviews with Vegas Matt and some of his gambling buddies, and also present trivia. Vegas Matt will also perform some of his famous live gameplay on FanDuel Casino app, one of the leading Michigan online casino platforms.
FanDuel users in Michigan who show up for the event will get an opportunity to engage in an exclusive offer presented at MotorCity Casino.
According to the casino, the first 1,300 tickets for the Vegas Matt Show at MotorCity were snatched up within 72 hours.
Vegas Matt built social media presence through gambling
Vegas Matt, whose real name is Stephen Matt Morrow, has more than 850,000 subscribers to his YouTube channel. There, he publishes videos of himself playing slots in casinos in Las Vegas and other locales.
According to his YouTube channel, which has published more than 1,000 videos since it launched in 2007, Vegas Matt claims his gambling is “as real as it gets,” and “you see the reality of the wins and the losses of a true gambler!”
Vegas Matt has wagered as much as $25,000 on his channel, and frequently gives away cash prizes to his followers. He has claimed to bet as much as $150,000 in one month, mostly on slot machines in casinos or via iGaming apps.
FanDuel, MotorCity Casino among state’s revenue leaders
FanDuel is one of more than a dozen online casino apps available in Michigan.
In September, FanDuel Casino along with its partner MotorCity Casino, reported $48.8 million in iGaming revenue. That ranked second among all online operators in the state. Collectively, Michigan had its second-highest month of online casino revenue in September.
Such gaming activity is a boon for the state. FanDuel provided $8.6 million in taxes for September. Altogether, Michigan garnered over $50 million in state and local taxes through online casinos.
When it comes to retail gambling, MotorCity Casino brought in $31.7 million in revenue for the month of October. That was second only to MGM Grand Detroit. Collectively, the three Detroit casinos generated $103.7 million in revenue last month. Over $20 million in tax revenue was created for the state and city of Detroit in October through the casinos.
