MGM Grand Detroit has been in business for 25 years as celebrated the accomplishment by investing $15 million in upgrading several areas of the casino for guests to enjoy.
MGM Grand Detroit is the city’s top grossing facility, having brought in $49.2 million in revenue last month. Continually enhancing the casino is important to attract and retain loyalty from customers.

What’s new at MGM Grand Detroit
The $15 million investment came with plenty of features for customers to enjoy. Those include:
- Slot machine optimization of the casino floor where 233 new games were introduced
- Improved sight lines, making the 100,000 square-foot casino floor easier to navigate
- Introduced the LIT Gaming Lounge, a new gaming space spanning more than 4,500 square feet,
featuring 81 slot machines and 10 table games - Remodel of a former nightclub space, offering a state-of-the-art gaming environment,
including an HVAC system with a high-powered exhaust fan to maintain clean air quality - Relocated National Coney Island and Detroit Wing Company within Detroit Central Market and
expanded self-service options - Replaced tile on the pool deck at Immerse Spa and refinished the indoor pool for improved
aesthetics and safety - Renovated and refreshed employee spaces, including a 1,784-square-foot employee lounge
MGM Grand Detroit certainly isn’t done catering to customers. The casino plans to allocate $17 million for enhancements in 2025. That would include new furniture and modernized amenities in hotel suites and new carpet on the entire casino floor.
Holiday specials at Detroit casino
There are a couple of holiday promotions the Detroit casino is offering to players. On Friday, Dec. 27, customers can win enter a drawing to win $2,500 in free play or the grand prize of the progressive payroll. The drawing is scheduled for 11 p.m.
The next day, rewards members can earn entries into a $50,000 cash prize by simply playing slots and table games. The promotion runs from noon until 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 28.
On New Year’s Eve, earn entries starting at 8 a.m. into the live drawings. Every 30 minutes, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., a winner will be selected to receive $2,025 in free play.
