The Gun Lake Tribe has a new leadership lineup for the governing council of Gun Lake Casino and Resort in Bradley.
Three newly elected members, Amy Austin, Hunter Levandoski, and Eric Sprague, were sworn in to the Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish Band of Pottawatomi Council. They had won an election last month to fill three vacancies.
According to a report, the council then elected Jodie Palmer as Tribal Chairwoman and Sprague as Vice Chairman.
New Council Takes Office
The changes are significant for the tribe that governs Gun Lake Casino and Resort, one of Michigan’s tribal casino operators.
Palmer succeeds Bob Peters. Peters retired after eight years as chairman and 12 years on the council overall.
In a statement after her election, Palmer said she was honored to take on the role. She also welcomed the three new council members.
“I am honored to have been elected as the new Tribal Chairperson of the Gun Lake Tribe,” Palmer said. “I am also pleased to welcome our three newly elected Council Members. Their diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives will be valuable assets as we work together to advance the Tribe’s priorities and build a better future for our Citizens.”
What Changed at Gun Lake Tribal Leadership
The swearing-in filled all three open seats on the council.
Along with Palmer’s elevation to chairwoman, Sprague moved into a leadership post as vice chairman after joining the council.
Currently, there are no additional details on the new members’ backgrounds or any immediate policy changes regarding the transition.
