The Michigan Sports Hall of Fame will induct its Class of 2026 on Thursday, Dec. 17, at Sound Board Theater inside MotorCity Casino Hotel in Detroit.
The hall announced the class on July 29. Tickets for the event start at $25. They are available through mshof.org.
This year’s class includes Swin Cash, Kevin Glover, Mark Ingram II, Peter Vanderkaay, Tony Annese, Paul Woods, and Bill Lajoie.
The Hall of Fame also announced two additional honors. Mark “The Bird” Fidrych will receive the Michigan Treasure Award and Doug Drenth will receive the Courage Award.
How the Class Was Selected
The Hall said the inductees were chosen by its Election Task Force, a statewide election committee, and public voters. The Board of Directors then unanimously ratified the selections.
Hall chairman Scott Lesher said the class includes champions from different eras and levels of competition. Hall president Jordan Field said increased participation from Michigan sports fans helped shape the final group.
Meet the Class of 2026
The class spans several corners of Michigan sports history:
- Cash won a WNBA title with the Detroit Shock in 2003 and was inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in 2020.
- Glover anchored the Detroit Lions’ offensive line from 1985-97 and made four Pro Bowls.
- Ingram starred in football at Grand Blanc and Flint Southwestern and was also a nine-time all-state selection in track.
- Vanderkaay won five NCAA titles and 14 Big Ten championships.
- Annese entered the 2026 season with four Division II national championships and seven conference titles at Ferris State.
- Woods has spent 40 years in broadcasting and has called more than 3,000 games.
- Lajoie joined the Detroit Tigers as a scout in 1969 and served as general manager from 1984-90.
The event adds another notable Detroit sports and entertainment booking to MotorCity Casino Hotel’s calendar.
