The next big step toward the 2022 NFL season occurred on Thursday night with the release of the schedule.

Coming off a 3-13-1 record in 2021, the Detroit Lions have a favorable schedule for the upcoming year. Detroit’s 2022 schedule ranks fifth-easiest in the NFL in terms of opponents’ winning percentage last season (.467).

With the schedule in place, get a look at what the Michigan online sportsbooks opening odds say about the 2022 season for the Lions.

Can the Lions be competitive in 2022?

Only DraftKings Sportsbook MI has odds listed already for all 17 of the Detroit Lions games this season.

Of the games, DK has the Lions favored in four of them. All four happen to be home games. The Lions over/under win total is set at 6.5 at DraftKings. The over comes with payout odds of +110 while the under is -130.

However, the Lions are only an underdog of more than three points in seven of their 17 games. Last season, Detroit had four losses by three points or less.

Futures odds remain the same for Lions

The oddsmakers aren’t seeing a productive season as a whole for the Lions.

Though head coach Dan Campbell is interestingly shooting up Coach of the Year markets, the Lions futures’ odds aren’t budging.

Respective books are still listing Detroit among the biggest longshots to win the Super Bowl and NFC Championship. They also remain as the biggest long shot in the NFC North.

When it comes to making the playoffs, BetMGM Michigan is keeping their odds at +500 for now.

Detroit comes into the 2022 season seeking its first playoff victory since 1991.
