Turtle Creek Casino & Hotel has opened a 50-space RV park next to its northern Michigan property. This new lodging option is within walking distance of the Turtle Creek Casino and less than 200 feet from the tribe’s Beach Fire Cannabis dispensary.
The Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians celebrated the opening on Wednesday, Aug. 19. The casino describes the new site as an “adult-oriented” park for the “modern traveler seeking both adventure and convenience.”
New RV Park Adds Another Stay Option at Turtle Creek
The park is nestled just west of the hotel’s main entrance on Michigan Highway 72, adjacent to Turtle Creek Market and a Mobil gas station.
According to Turtle Creek, the RV park includes 50 spaces with full hookups for electric, water, and sewer, along with trash disposal. Amenities also include a clubhouse lounge, modern shower facilities, laundry services, several firepits, a walking path, and a fenced dog park.
The property also offers shuttle service to the casino for guests who prefer not to walk to the gaming floor, restaurants, or bars.
Turtle Creek said the park intends to combine “outdoor relaxation and casino excitement” near the resort’s gaming and dining amenities.
Casino, Cannabis, and Age Rules Differ on the Property
The opening also stands out for its proximity to Beach Fire Cannabis. It’s the tribe’s recreational marijuana business located less than 200 feet from the RV park.
Under Michigan law, recreational cannabis consumption must take place on private property. The RVs qualify as private property under that framework.
The age rules around the property are not identical. Beach Fire sells recreational cannabis products to adults 21 and older, and Turtle Creek says hotel guests must also be at least 21 to book a room. However, many tribal casinos in Michigan, including Turtle Creek, allow gambling at 18 and up.
That makes Turtle Creek part of a group of Michigan tribal casinos with lower gambling-age entry than some of the state’s 21-and-over properties. Bay Mills, Island Resort, Kewadin Casinos, and Soaring Eagle are among the 18-plus tribal casinos. Meanwhile, FireKeepers, Four Winds, Gun Lake, and Odawa are listed as 21-plus only.
Turtle Creek Casino itself has more than 1,000 slot machines, 40 table games, and a Caesars Sportsbook.
