Michigan continues to set the pace in regulated online sports betting, and new data show that momentum is extending directly into NFL stadiums. According to a recent GeoComply report, Ford Field emerged as the league’s top venue for in-stadium engagement.

It highlights how Detroit Lions fans are embracing mobile sports wagering as part of the live NFL betting experience.

GeoComply’s Edge Stadium Data examined how fans inside NFL stadiums interact with apps during games. Rather than focusing solely on betting volume, the report emphasizes engagement rate – the percentage of fans in attendance who actively open and use betting apps while inside the stadium.

Michigan fans among the most digitally engaged

Across the NFL, the highest-performing stadiums recorded engagement rates between 10% and 13%. Roughly one out of every eight fans used a sports wagering app during the game.

Ford Field consistently ranked at the top of that range at 13.04%. Here are the rest of the stadiums that round out the top five engagement rates:

  • Gillette Stadium (Patriots): 12.56%
  • Soldier Field (Bears): 11.83%
  • Paycor Stadium (Bengals): 11.00%
  • Lucas Oil Stadium (Colts): 10.84%

Whether checking live odds, monitoring player props, or following other games happening around the league, fans inside Ford Field are actively using mobile platforms to enhance their game-day experience.

In-stadium engagement is becoming the new normal

As mobile connectivity improves and betting platforms continue to evolve, in-stadium engagement is no longer viewed as a novelty. Instead, it is becoming a standard part of how fans interact with sports – especially in markets like Michigan where mobile betting is already deeply integrated into fan habits.

Ford Field’s position among the NFL’s engagement leaders underscores how Michigan is shaping the future of the live sports experience. For Lions fans, attending a game increasingly means staying connected from kickoff to final whistle.

What it means for Michigan going forward

As the NFL and sports operators continue to explore new ways to enhance the fan experience, Michigan’s role appears firmly established.

With Ford Field setting the standard, the state is proving that the next evolution of game-day engagement is already happening, right in the heart of Detroit.

Though it won’t be at Ford Field, Michigan bettors are likely gearing up for Super Bowl betting.
