Hard Rock Bet and BetRivers Casino are in an intense battle for the No. 4 spot in the Michigan iGaming market, with the latter edging the newcomer in February.
BetRivers produced $20.7 million to Hard Rock’s $20.2 million, which contributed to Michigan online casinos‘ $273.1 million in revenue last month, according to the Michigan Gaming Control Board.
BetRivers claims No. 4 spot
Hard Rock launched an iGaming platform in December and came in hot right away. The operator posted $35.7 million in Michigan online casino revenue its first month and $23.1 million in January.
It’s certainly an impressive feat for a new platform in a mature market. Hard Rock isn’t new to iGaming though, as it has a successful product in New Jersey and Florida.
However, Hard Rock came back down to earth in February, and actually ceded the No. 4 spot to BetRivers.
Brighter days are ahead for Hard Rock, though it’ll likely have to battle with BetRivers in the months ahead.
Revenue dips again
Since setting a new record in December, revenue has declined in each of the last two months.
Operators experienced an 8.4% month-over-month decrease but still a 22.7% year-over-year increase, which is encouraging.
March has been a historically strong month for operators. It has set new records in each of the last three years.
DraftKings takes another tumble
DraftKings Casino has been up and down as of late. The operator produced only $33.7 million in February, which is significantly below its standard.
Here is DraftKings’ performance over the last handful of months:
- October: $44.7 million
- November: $20.0 million
- December: $45.4 million
- January: $45.5 million
- February: $33.7 million
Usually hovering around $45 million in a given month, DraftKings has had two off months over the last five. In November, a lucky player won a progressive jackpot for $22.4 million, the largest iGaming prize in US history.
While the largest jackpot ever contributed to a down November, perhaps customers were luckier during the month of February. DraftKings is hoping to return to around $45 million in March.
