The Michigan iGaming industry is coming dangerously close to upending Pennsylvania for the most revenue in a single month.
The Michigan Gaming Control Board reported that operators generated $301.2 million in online casino revenue in Michigan during June. The Great Lakes State finished fewer than $2 million behind Pennsylvania last month.
Pennsylvania has been the No. 1 iGaming jurisdiction for years. However, the state is experiencing a stabilization period. Michigan online casinos, having launched around three years later, are still growing at a massive rate.
Another huge YoY bump
Michigan has once again crossed $300 million in monthly revenue, which seems to be the benchmark for the state. The vertical continues to grow at a rapid rate, too.
While month-over-month revenue decreased slightly at 1.5%, year-over-year totals grew at a 25.2% rate.
Pennsylvania is no longer seeing growth rates above 20%. In April, May and June, the industry has grown just 9%, 10.1% and 14.2%, respectively, from the same months as last year. Michigan’s year-over-year growth rates are as follows:
- January: 20.2%
- February: 22.7%
- March: 23.6%
- April: 22.3%
- May: 21.6%
- June: 25.2%
Since Michigan launched iGaming years after Pennsylvania, operators have not reached a level of stabilization or maturity just yet. Michigan Gaming Control Board Public Information Officer Lisa Keith told PlayMichigan last month:
“While we won’t speculate on when the market will ultimately mature, current trends suggest we have not yet reached that point.”
That remains true for June, too.
On pace for record-breaking year
Halfway into 2026, online operators have accumulated $1.8 billion in revenue. The market is on pace to easily clear $3 billion at year’s end.
Michigan compiled just over $3 billion in yearly revenue in 2025. The vertical is on pace to eclipse $3.6 billion in 2026.
Year-over-year revenue growth also remains consistent at 20% higher than this time last year.
Lifetime revenue will also exceed $12 billion next month.
BetMGM closes gap
FanDuel Casino MI has been the No. 1 operator for more than a year. While the operator retained the No. 1 spot again in June, BetMGM Casino MI crept closer.
Both operators continue to roll out competitive Michigan online casino bonuses to attract new players in the crowded market.
FanDuel generated $72.1 million in revenue compared to BetMGM’s $66.3 million. It’s a lot closer than last month’s $77.4 million to $64.3 million tally.
BetMGM, which had led the market before FanDuel’s takeover, still has its work cut out for it before it reclaims the top spot in Michigan. However, it is showing it can still compete and come close to FanDuel.
