Michigan’s regulated iGaming market closed 2025 with a landmark December performance, as online casino operators reported $315.8 million in gross revenue, the highest monthly total in the state’s history, according to the Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB).
The December tally marked a significant milestone for the Great Lakes State’s digital casino sector. It capped a year defined by expansion and intense competition among leading platforms, which led to $3.1 billion in yearly revenue.
Record December boosts annual momentum
For the full 2025 calendar year, Michigan online casino revenue reached nearly $3.1 billion, another record, which is close to a 30% year-over-year jump.
December proved to be the best month of all-time, shattering the previous record set in October of $278.5 million.
Michigan had always been behind Pennsylvania in the iGaming market. Even though it still is, the state finished around $9 million shy of the Keystone State in 2025.
The market grew both month-over-month and year-over-year at 27.1% and 29.4%, respectively.
It’ll be interesting to see if the iGaming vertical can continue to grow at that rate.
Operator Battles Defined the Year
Behind the headline numbers was a tight race for operator supremacy in Michigan’s iGaming landscape. FanDuel Casino and BetMGM Casino waged a competitive war for revenue leadership throughout 2025.
FanDuel posted a string of strong months – including a $76.9 million revenue performance in December alone – giving it an edge in the year-to-date revenue race over BetMGM.
By late 2025, FanDuel was leading the market with hundreds of millions in cumulative revenue, closely trailed by BetMGM, which remained a perennial contender thanks to its deep game library and promotional reach. FanDuel posted $817.1 million compared to BetMGM’s $782.5 million last year.
Other operators also made noise in 2025. DraftKings Casino continued to hold a solid third place among Michigan’s online platforms, while Fanatics Casino showed consistent month-to-month growth, surpassing previous personal bests as it expanded its player base.
What’s driving iGaming growth
Analysts point to broader consumer adoption, improved mobile experiences, and aggressive promotional strategies as key drivers behind Michigan’s iGaming boom. Slots and interactive table games remain the backbone of earnings, with newer platforms carving out niche audiences and compelling longtime players to stay engaged.
As Michigan heads into 2026, all eyes will be on how operators capitalize on the strong foundation laid in 2025 and whether the tight FanDuel-BetMGM battle can persist in the year ahead.
Hard Rock Bet, which launched late in 2025, is another operator to watch in 2026.
