The Michigan Gaming Control Board has approved FanDuel to participate in the Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement (MSIGA), expanding multi-state online poker access for Michigan players.
The regulator announced Wednesday that FanDuel is now authorized to offer shared liquidity, allowing players in Michigan to compete against those in other MSIGA jurisdictions. The approval follows the MGCB’s regulatory review process and marks another step in the continued growth of interstate poker.
FanDuel approval comes amid PokerStars transition
FanDuel’s entry into MSIGA comes at a pivotal time for Michigan’s poker market.
PokerStars completed its transition to the FanDuel Casino platform on Wednesday as part of Flutter Entertainment’s strategy to align its US operations under the FanDuel umbrella. While the standalone PokerStars app is no longer operating in Michigan, the brand itself will continue to exist on FanDuel’s platform.
That transition positions FanDuel to take over PokerStars’ existing player base and infrastructure. PokerStars had already been operating multi-state poker, meaning FanDuel is well-positioned to continue those offerings once fully integrated.
MGCB Executive Director Henry Williams said in a statement:
“FanDuel is a well-established operator in the Michigan gaming market. Michigan players can have confidence in the integrity of the games they play, backed by the same rigorous oversight the MGCB applies across all licensed gaming activity.”
What MSIGA means for Michigan players
MSIGA allows participating states to combine online poker player pools, increasing liquidity across state lines.
For players, that typically translates to:
- Larger tournament prize pools
- More consistent game availability
- A wider variety of stakes and formats
Michigan joined MSIGA in 2022, joining a growing network that includes Delaware, Nevada, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. Since then, operators have been approved on a case-by-case basis to offer shared liquidity.
FanDuel joins growing list of approved operators
FanDuel becomes the latest operator authorized by the MGCB to offer multi-state poker.
Other operators already approved include:
- BetMGM Poker
- WSOP
- PokerStars (prior to the platform transition)
Each operator must meet strict technical and regulatory requirements before launching shared liquidity. The MGCB has consistently emphasized player protection, game integrity, and responsible gaming standards throughout the approval process.
Michigan poker market continues to evolve
FanDuel’s approval signals continued momentum for Michigan’s online poker ecosystem.
As operators expand multi-state offerings, the market is expected to become more competitive and attractive to players.
The addition of FanDuel – particularly following the PokerStars transition – could help sustain liquidity and keep Michigan firmly positioned as one of the leading regulated poker states in the US.
