PokerStars has officially notified customers that its platform will cease offering online poker and iGaming titles as it prepares to transition into FanDuel Casino.

In an email sent to users, the operator confirmed that PokerStars will stop offering real-money gaming on April 1, with full account access ending shortly after.

Key deadlines for Michigan players

According to the email, PokerStars accounts will remain accessible until April 30. During that time, players can still log in to review account history and withdraw remaining funds.

Any balances left in accounts after April 30 will not be forfeited, but instead mailed to the address on file in the form of a physical check.

That gives Michigan players a clear one-month window to take action before funds are automatically processed.

Final step in FanDuel migration

The shutdown marks the final phase of PokerStars’ previously announced transition to the FanDuel platform.

Flutter Entertainment, the parent company of both brands, revealed earlier this year that it would consolidate its US iGaming operations under FanDuel. The move is designed to leverage FanDuel’s strong brand recognition and larger customer base.

Michigan, one of the more competitive online casino markets in the country, is expected to see FanDuel further strengthen its position as a result.

What happens to poker players?

The biggest impact remains on poker players.

FanDuel does not currently offer online poker in the US, meaning PokerStars’ transition adds to the gaming hub FanDuel has already created.

Players who relied on PokerStars for multi-state liquidity and tournament offerings will now need to create a FanDuel account if they didn’t already have one.

What players should do now

Michigan players should take the following steps before the April 30 deadline:

  • Withdraw remaining balances
  • Download or review account history if needed
  • Ensure account details, especially mailing address, are up to date
  • Get set up on FanDuel

PokerStars support remains available via email for any issues related to withdrawals or account access.

End of an era, beginning of another

PokerStars played a key role in shaping Michigan’s online poker market after launch, but its shift signals a broader strategic shift by Flutter.

As FanDuel absorbs its assets, the focus moves towards putting all of its gaming verticals under one umbrella.

For players, the transition is straightforward. The same tournaments and games will exist, with even “bigger prize pools” and “larger guarantees,” FanDuel promises.
